Dr. Debra Mucasey Bootin

Dr. Debra Mucasey Bootin received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, where she also completed her residency in pediatrics. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in biology, with honors, from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Bootin is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Harris County Medical Society. She has served on multiple committees at Texas Children’s Hospital and The Woman’s Hospital of Texas.

Active in the Houston community, Dr. Bootin has served on the board of directors and the board of education of both the Hebrew Academy and the Robert M. Beren Academy. She co-chaired the Jewel of an Evening: Ruby Anniversary Gala for the United Orthodox Synagogues and two years later, the Rainbow of Opportunities Gala for the Robert M. Beren Academy. Dr. Bootin has also volunteered as a physician at Camp Young Judaea Texas and the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center’s Maccabi Games and ArtsFest.

Additionally, she currently serves on the voluntary teaching faculty of her alma mater, Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Bootin is a life member of UOS Sisterhood and Hadassah, the women’s Zionist organization of America. When she’s not in the office, Dr. Bootin enjoys spending time with her husband, their three children, son-in-law and three grandchildren.

Over the years, she has loved watching so many children grow up, build families of their own and bring their babies to her as patients. She finds this to be such a compliment.

One father commented, “She [Dr. Debbie] is very nice and listens to what you have to say, as well as the child. I’m so glad that she is our child’s doctor, and we are confident he is getting the best care when we take him to her!”
